Exposing the Forest County Potawatomi's multimillion-dollar crusade to squash competition and wrangle a government-backed monopoly for its Milwaukee casino
We, the undersigned, believe that competition is good for a free-market society and that strong businesses thrive in a competitive marketplace.
We appreciate having a choice and oppose the Forest County Potawatomi's multimillion-dollar campaign to dodge competition from the proposed Kenosha casino. We are disappointed that the Potawatomi have resorted to mistruths, lopsided studies, misleading ads and other questionable tactics in their fight to preserve the government-sanctioned monopoly their off-reservation Milwaukee casino has held for nearly two decades.
We believe the findings of multiple economic studies - including one conducted for the Potawatomi - that two strong, competing casinos can be successful in Southeast Wisconsin. We support bringing real competition to the region's vastly underserved gaming market by building the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin's proposed Kenosha casino. We want the more than 3,000 good-paying jobs the Menominee project would create and the billion-dollar economic benefits it would bring to the region and the entire State of Wisconsin.
We believe it's time for the Forest County Potawatomi to stop fighting competition and embrace the tremendous positives it can bring to both tribes; Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha counties; and the state as a whole.
